Jerry Forrest, President began his career
in the jewelry industry in 1971 where he attended the jewelry school
at Paris Junior College in Paris, Texas. His curriculum included
jewelry repair, stone setting, fabrication, casting, wax carving,
engraving, mold making and watch repair. In 1972 Jerry accepted a
position as shop foreman with McCartney Company in Dallas, Texas
where he began manufacturing fraternity and sorority jewelry. While
at McCartney Company he decided to advance his jewelry knowledge by
studying gemology and started his coursework with the Gemological
Institute of America. He completed GIA's courses in Diamonds,
Diamond Grading, Colored Stones and Gem Identification and upon
completion of his test in each course was awarded his Graduate
Gemologist Diploma.
After five years with McCartney Company,
Jerry opened the Jewelry Forrest and began his career in custom
jewelry design. While serving as President of The Jewelry Forrest,
Jerry became a Registered Jeweler, Certified Gemologist and
Certified Gemologist Appraiser through the American Gem Society.
In 1992 Jerry became a member of the International Society of
Appraisers and upon completion of the required course work and
testing he was awarded the title of Certified Appraiser of Personal
Property (CAPP) in 1996.
Jerry's knowledge of the jewelry industry is continually updated
through his required AGS and ISA continuing education courses and testing.
